Yin Yoga with Rena Wren

This class will give students the opportunity to access, nourish and massage the deep connective tissues of the body for a wonderful new kind of yoga experience.

Yin yoga is a quiet practice suitable for students of all levels of experience. Through the practice of long held postures targeting mainly the connective tissue of the low back, hips and hamstrings, Yin yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing your body. When we let the muscles relax, the work is done in the areas beyond the muscles and into the joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone, with special attention paid to areas that encompass a joint (hips, spine, sacrum). We hold poses with the muscles relaxed for several minutes. Also, by targeting the main meridians (energy channels) of the body, this type of deep tissue practice assists you in removing ama (toxins, blockages) and creating more mental and physical harmony. This is a more meditative practice with a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go. The Yin practice includes powerful mental and emotional benefits as you become quiet, still and mindful of the present moment. Other benefits of Yin yoga include: reduces stress, creates calm in the mind and body, builds stamina, lubricates and protects the joints, increases flexibility in the deep tissue, and improves your meditation experience. Give yourself this opportunity to surrender, slow down and come back to balance. Yin yoga is a perfect complement for vinyasa flow and other physically challenging “yang” practices.

Props are extremely useful for this type of practice so that you can access the deep tissue in the best way for your body. If you have props of your own, please feel free to bring them (blocks, blanket, bolster).

"LEARNING IS LIFELONG PRACTICE AND A PRICELESS GIFT."

THIS WILL BE AN IN-DEPTH STUDY INTO THE ART AND SCIENCE OF YOGA, GEARED TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE SEEKING SELF-GROWTH AND THE DRIVE TO HELP OTHERS BEGIN THEIR OWN JOURNEY INWARD. THE YCA IS A SYSTEM THAT WILL SUPPORT YOU NOT ONLY DURING TRAINING, BUT EVEN AS YOU CONTINUE TO GROW AFTER GRADUATION. THERE ARE MANY LEARNING PATHS TO CHOOSE FROM. LET YCA HELP YOU BEGIN YOUR PERSONALIZED JOURNEY.

The Yoga Collective Academy is ran by Kayce Johnson and Wesley Pilcher, who also own the Arkansas Yoga Collective studio. The 200hr Yoga Alliance Registered YCA Teacher Training, is a program that is rooted in the ancient tradition of yoga. YCA seeks to provide you with traditional wisdom and the knowledge of how to creatively advance your practice and teaching. You will leave with the understanding of yoga philosophy, posture alignment, mantra, meditation, the energetic components of yoga, pranayama techniques, and how to lead a yoga class safely and effectively. There are various modules that will all need to be completed in order to receive your 200hr certification. We are offering you the opportunity, however, to complete your training at your own pace. What that means is, you are welcome to take the complete training as outlined or take individual modules as you wish, receiving credit that will ultimately count towards your 200hr certification. This allows trainees the opportunity to progress at their own pace (your practice is personal and so is your training needs!). Our training is also taking place on weekday evenings and on the weekends, once a month, to allow enough flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule and give you plenty of time to absorb this transformative information.

New Moon Ritual Workshop with Michelle Rhodes

Join us Sunday June 30th from 7:30-9pm for a New Moon Ritual Workshop, Solar Eclipse Edition!  Make plans to sit together in circle as we set intentions using the guidance of the moon to propel us forward.

Every New Moon is a time to plant seeds for our next chapter.  But the July 2nd New Moon Eclipse gives us the energy of those new beginnings on steroids.  Cancer, ruled by the Moon herself and the sign of this New Moon Eclipse, might have us feeling all the feels. Mercury going retrograde in the midst of this eclipse season will have us rethinking, revisiting, and rewriting how we communicate those feelings. Join us as we come together and learn how to handle the element of water, our emotions, and all the ways we must be mindful of how we move forward on our journey by living more mindfully.  Water signs and Capricorns will feel this energy the most, and won’t want to miss this deep dive into Eclipse season.

Workshop cost is $39, and preregistration via MindBody or the AYC app is required.  Workshop includes all necessary supplies, a workbook for you to take home and use throughout the month and forward, a small ritual kit including oil and an intention bracelet specific to the season, as well as tea and snacks.  Bring your favorite mug to sip from, and any blankets, crystals, cards, or other tools you may need to feel comfortable.  No yoga experience, props, or prior knowledge of the Moon phases are required.  If you know your sun, moon, and rising signs, have them ready.  Your birth details (date, time, and place) will also be helpful to have on hand, but are not required.  If you don’t know what this means, you will when you leave!

Early Morning Aquarian Sadhana with Kayce Johnson

Join us this Sunday, March 3rd, from 4-6am and wake the sun with a powerful Kundalini Yoga Practice.

We will need intuition, stamina, both physical and mental, self-awareness, and a new depth of spiritual experience that can hold our identity in the face of global changes, relentless competition, information overload, and ecological and environmental challenges.

The Aquarian Sadhana is practiced by Kundalini Yoga communities across the world. Sadhana means daily practice. Doing sadhana in a group develops group consciousness. A group sadhana practice amplifies the impact of the meditation. Yogi Bhajan said that group meditation not only adds to individual effort, but multiplies it.

During what are called the “ambrosial hours” (the two and a half hours just before sunrise), when the sun is at a sixty-degree angle to the Earth, the effects of sadhana are amplified.

4:00 am: Recitation of JapJi Sahib. ( Song of the Soul)

Weekend with Ruslan Kleytman
Feb

to Feb 24

Weekend with Ruslan Kleytman

Join us for a weekend of workshops with Ruslan Kleytman. Ruslan is an internationally known and highly respected (and one of both Wesley's and Kayce's teachers). He has taught workshops at many major global yoga conferences and festivals, including Yoga Journal Festival and Free Spirit Festival. Ruslan’s articles have been featured in major publications, including Yoga Journal and Mantra magazine.

Friday, February 22nd 6:30-8:30pm
Plasticity and Fascia
Fascia is the connective tissue that weaves throughout the entire body. It makes up our tendons, ligaments, and over 30 percent of our muscle. The majority of our flexibility and limitation in movement comes from the restrictions of our fascia.
Plasticity refers to fascia changing its length and retaining its shape. When fascia is stretched, bonds that hold the fascia together are altered and new bonds form. This remolding of fascia promotes improved mobility by reducing tension and rigidity.
In this workshop we will stretch all five major fascial lines, holding poses for 8 to 10 breaths to allow enough time to stretch into the fascia.

Saturday, February 23rd; 2-4:00pm
Blissful Flow
Blissful Flow is a soulful journey to ignite magic in your body, mind and heart with creative choreography of dynamic asana flow, music and Vedic wisdom. We will begin class with devotional poetry and mantra music, followed by a fluid wave of movements blended into a garland of poses on a thread of breath.

Fluid vinyasa choreography movements remind us of the temporary nature of our lives, circumstances, and experiences. Music and mantra evokes innate feelings of love, compassion, and gratitude.

For dessert, relax and restore with an extended guided Savasana meditation accompanied by a lush tapestry of soothing sounds in the form of live music.

Ignite magic in your journey of life.

Saturday, February 23rd; 6-9:00pm
Transformational Breathing – Sound Vibrational Medicine (3h) 1h lecture + 2h practice

First Ruslan will take you on a spiritual exploration through breath, lifting your vibrational field and submerging your brain to Theta-wave Ocean into deep layers of your subconsciousness, followed by soundbath with mesmerizing singing bowls, magical flutes, romantic charango and enchanted chimes, to captivate your mind, massage your soul and open your heart to higher frequencies of Loving- Kindness resonance. This peaceful practice will leave you feeling grounded with a deeper connection to yourself, your family and Universe. The ancient practice of connected breathing has been embraced by yogis, shamans, seers, and indigenous cultures around the world for thousands of years.

Transformational Breath is a unique therapeutic modality, this method of breath pranafies the body by circulating the life force throughout your entire being. Through surrender and relaxation of the exhalation, the heart opens and receives the infinite wisdom, magic and healing power hidden within the breath. Sense perceptions expand and higher levels of awareness are realized.

Transformational Breath facilitates the natural healing process for all types of trauma. It is beneficial in gaining greater physical, mental and spiritual health, and in maintenance of optimal health. • Clears past traumas, dramas, and accumulated stress, • Reprograms healthy breathing patterns, • Increases oxygenation throughout the body, • Heals psychosomatic illnesses, • Enhances awareness of self-sabotaging patterns, • Stimulates circulation

Happy Hips & Shoulders

Urban dwellers live high pace, stressful lives. Each of us from the first breath we take undergoes various traumatic experiences. Negative emotions like fear and gilt, create zones of high density around hips and shoulders. We feel tight, limited, and stuck in our upper and lower bodies. Hips are closing and shoulders are slouching as we build protective shell to hide behind it. To be free, open and relaxed we need to release these zones. Experience the euphoria of freedom in your hips and shoulders through a systematic 6 directional opening routines.
Come with a willing spirit and leave with lightness in your body!
**All levels
Topics covered:
• Directions of mobility for hips and knees
• Directions of mobility for shoulders and elbows
• 4 levels of difficulty
• Shukshma-vyama kriyas (warm ups)
• Principal vinyasas
• Bandhas & Mudras

New Moon Ritual Workshop with Michelle Rhodes

New Moon Ritual Workshop with Michelle Rhodes

Women are naturally lunar. Observing and tracking the phases of the Moon helps us to align with this natural connection and make sense of our own phases.. By noticing and getting in tune with the subtle energies of the moon as she gets bigger and smaller, and how that pattern affects us individually, we are able to notice the parallel patterns in our own lives as it pertains to our creativity, emotions, and intuition. Once you understand the pattern, you can use it to support your growth.
The New Moon is the beginning and ending of every 29.5 day long lunar cycle, and is the time when we plant seeds for the upcoming month, 6 months, year. Using the specific energy of the New Moon and her placement astronomically, we are able to access these subtle cues much more easily.
This month we celebrate the Sagittarius New Moon, filled with wonder and curiosity for all of our life experiences. Come join us as we find ways to expand and enjoy the delight in this season. We will discuss creating your own ritual space at home, and learn tools you can use over and over again to support personal intention setting.
Workshop includes:
*printed new moon journal & workbook
*guided meditation
*circle discussion on the lunar phases, importance of the New Moon, and how they relate to our lives
*detailed astrology report around this new moon in Sagittarius and how to effectively set intentions for the upcoming cycle.
*new moon journaling and intention setting
*personal crystal and essential oil for Sagittarius season

Honor your cyclical nature as a woman by connecting to earth, a community of women, and your own feminine intuition.
‘With straight spines and soft hearts, may we root to the earth, connecting, at once, with gravity and limitlessness. May we leap into the future, setting pure intentions—fearless, responsible, and free’.

New Moon Ritual Workshop, December 2nd 7:30-9.
Cost: $39

*if you know your astrological sun and/or rising sign, please come with this information. It isnot required, but will be helpful for the intention setting process

Through the Eyes of a Child: A Workshop to Open the Third Eye

Through the Eyes of a Child: A Workshop to Open the Third Eye

By the age of four, children are sensing and processing twice as much as adults. This enhanced focus on details and awareness creates the awe-like wonderment that children beautifully express. By the age of 16, we have typically leveled off in our abilities to be as open. In a sense, we begin to become “set in our ways.” But what if you could begin to gain some of this awareness back? What if you could tap into more sensory experiences and rewire your brain to enjoy more of what the world has to offer? Join internationally known psychic, medium, and spiritual coach, Bonni McCliss, and meditation and life guide, Karla Shepard, in exploring how to open the third eye using techniques we are born with but are taught throughout life to close down. Where and when did we lose the connection and how do we get it back? The holidays are the perfect time to reflect, let go, and see what lies beyond. Join us for a afternoon of tips, techniques, meditations all centered around increasing intuition and deepening our connection to the infinite. This workshop will end with a relaxing sound bath of crystal bowls to help raise your frequency and help you carry and hold the experience.

Aware of your meditation (INTENTIONS), aware of your breath (LIFE), aware of your alignment (PLAN), & aware of your flow (ACTION). Through such state of AWARENESS we can REACH a level of JOY and ACHIEVEMENT

Everyone has a story! Each story is different! What's holding you back from being the BEST YOU is different than what's holding me back. In our workshop you will have the oppurtunity to visit your TRAP. Through WORDS of AFFIRMATION reminding you of your INNER STRENGTH & individually JOURNALING your STRATEGIC PLAN with ACTION ITEMS you will begin to create a path to pull you out of your CONFINEMENT aka YOUR TRAP.

Awakening the Goddess Within Workshop for Women with Lila Pearsall
Within each and every woman lives a Goddess. She is a wild woman, whole and complete. She beats to the rhythm of her own drum, one that is aligned and in tune with the rhythm of the universe. She attracts what she wants, and creates the life of her dreams with grace. Come awaken this Goddess through a mix of yoga flow, fierce feminin movement, ancient meditaion practices, tantric dance and instrospective writing.

Cost: $20

About Lila:

I discovered yoga in 1999 and have been practicing ever since.  I found it as a way to ease my depression and anxiety, and as a much needed tool to break away from the mental gymnastics going on in my head. I have studied many forms of yoga and meditation throughout the years and I use methods from several traditions to customize practices for my clients.  While my approach is simple, sessions are always dynamic, incorporating mindfulness, balance, strength, flexibility, humor, and a little rock and roll. There is always a deep focus on breath. My goal is to create space for my clients to get in touch with their spirt, light, and the love within them....because from this place, anything is possible.

Introduction into Kundalini Yoga
Apr
23
6:30 PM18:30

Introduction into Kundalini Yoga

"Kundalini Yoga is called the "Yoga of Awareness." In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul."
-3HO

Starting in May, AYC will have a regularly scheduled Kundalini Yoga Class. This is an introductory workshop led by Kayce Johnson and Lakey Goff to provide you with more information about what kundalini yoga is, how it came to the US, what to expect in a kundalini yoga class, how this technology works, and review some of the methods kundalini uses to help you raise your awareness (such as pranayama techniques, mantras, and kriyas).

This is the perfect class for beginners and people who are new to kundalini yoga. Even if you are not familiar with kundalini yoga or have never taken a kundalini yoga class, you will feel comfortable with this introduction. Kundalini yoga is for everyone.

April Satsang: The True Face of Light

This is a free event, open to the community!

7:00pm - 7:45pm Meet/Greet/Food
7:45pm - 8:30pm Lecture/Discussion & Focused Mantras/Kirtan
8:30pm - 8:50pm Meditation
8:50pm - Closing of Satsang/Aarti

Happy April!

In this months Satsang, we will explore and discuss the True Face of Light. Enhancing ourselves like the Phoenix, rising from the dark ashes, learning and becoming more aware... Lets explore, discuss and provoke thought!

"Nikola Tesla, a visionary, and accomplished being of the modern era, said that he had family conversations with lightning and the colors of a sunset taught him invention. We know less about the historic Patanjali, but it is said that in his continuous pursuit of the light of knowledge he became a grammarian, an ayurvedic doctor, and a philosopher. Both of these people urge us to find perfection and capture our universal identity.

So also does Kapila, the founder of Samkhya Philosophy, in this excerpt from the Srimad Bhagavatam where he instructs his mother, Devahūti: “Egoism in the mode of passion produces two kinds of senses—the senses for acquiring knowledge and the senses of action The senses of action depend on the vital energy (prāna), and the senses for acquiring knowledge depend on intelligence (buddhi). By interactions of the air and the sensations of touching, one receives different forms according to destiny. By evolution of such forms, there is fire and the eye sees different forms in color. My dear mother, the characteristics of form are understood by dimension, quality and individuality. The form of fire is appreciated by its effulgence.”

The Sun is the original source of light that makes vision possible. The fire/light of the yogi is the tapas that burns away impurities, and the ash that remains is the vibhuti; the sacred ash. Siddhi is the power that rises out of the black ashes like a phoenix from the fire of tapas. Patanjali reminds us that it is dangerous to be self-satisfied and halt progress with the acquisition of siddhis—restings on our laurels."
Excerpt from April Focus of the Month - David Life

Mantra Chanting: Repetition of specific mantras in a call and response format!

Relaxing Meditation (Approx. 25 minutes): Meditation will focus on the light from within!

Look forward to seeing you there!

Testimonials

“You feel the rhythm in your bones. The drum beat starts to match the rhythm of your heartbeat, starts to match to the rhythm of your breath until all of a sudden you are just in this energy of oneness, connected with the drums, connected with the other people, connected with the deepest part of yourself." - Becky "Tara" Eschenroeder (Great Abiding Yoga)

"Everyone moves together, building a collective energy that is very strong and powerful, felt deep within the heart and quieting the mind, helping sync movement with breath and having their energy, energy of those around them and energy of the drumming move them through their meditative practice." - Nicole Boyle (Studio owner, In Balance Yoga)
