Dialing Back with Ryan Shaw

How often do we find ourselves just going through the motions in our everyday life? Sometimes, this helps us save energy and focus on more important things. But often, a little more attention to the present, our breathing, our posture, can help make us a little lighter, a little happier.

So to in yoga, we sometimes find ourselves going through the motions, focusing on the people around us, how our posture looks from the outside, or perhaps even a certain action of one or two parts of our body. It's so easy to forget that there is a whole world to explored in the sensations of each pose. We have millions of neurons in our body, called proprioceptors, whose sole purpose is to tell us where our body is in space a...nd how everything feels. They are on all the time, and they are the key to true body awareness.

In this workshop, we'll learn how to experiment with subtle shifts in weight, effort, and attention. We'll learn how these shifts can deepen even the simplest poses. We'll play with poses you know (like Down Dog, Chaturanga,Cobra) and work to bring our awareness to more and more of the body. And we'll have fun and learn some stuff. Cool?

This workshop is for people at ANY LEVEL of yoga - meaning you beginners are totally welcome and will not be left n the dust at all.

Ryan Shaw is an E-RYT 200 yoga teacher with over 1100 yoga classes under his belt (most of them taught in Little Rock).
