An Introduction into the Fundamentals
of Ashtanga Yoga with Steve Kirk
Ashtanga Yoga is accessible to everyone,
including the young and old, strong and weak,
flexible and non-flexible, and the injured.
In this workshop we will work on the fundamentals that make
up the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.
“Ashtanga Yoga” means eight limbed yoga. They are yama, niyama,
asana, pranayama, prathyahara, dharana, dhyana and Samadhi.
We will touch on all of the limbs but will focus on, the third limb,
asana (the practice of yoga postures) and through this
we will begin to understand the other limbs.
This workshop is guided toward the student new to yoga and to Ashtanga
or the more experienced yogi looking to expand their understanding of the practice.
The class will start with an in-depth discussion on the fundamentals,
we will take a 20 min break then asana practice.
