Practicing yoga for children has been shown to: increase their ability to concentrate, encourage body awareness, help to develop and improve coordination skills, encourage healthy habits, build strength and flexibility, increase a sense of compassion for others, and enhance emotional creativity.
Join Rachel Newell for an Introduction into Yoga for Kids Pop-Up Class. It will be a fun-filled hour long class, tailored around helping the children understand the foundations of yoga. The beginning portion of the class will focus on posture practice and the last 15 minutes will conclude with a creative coloring meditation.
Recommended for ages 6 and up.
A love of movement and a belief in its healing power led Rachel to PachaMama, Costa Rica for her 200-hr certification. She is a Little Rock native with a background in dance, and began practicing yoga as a supplement. She quickly fell in love with the practice and its effect on her mental and physical health, and practiced for a few more years before feeling called to share it with others. Rachel also teaches and performs with Arkansas Circus Arts, Little Rock's cirque troupe and studio. She is passionate about sharing movement and believes it inspires health and happiness.
