Overcoming the Grip of Anxiety and Stress: Calming Practices for Children and Their Caregivers

  • Arkansas Yoga Collective 7801 Cantrell Rd. Suite D Little Rock, AR, 72227 (map)

Another school year is about to begin. There is so much stress and pressure placed on the youth these days. Why not work at helping children learn how to release stress and anxiety before they become bigger issues?

Join Kayce Johnson and Karla Shepard on August 5th for a class focused on teaching and working with children to develop mindfulness techniques to help recognize and cope with stress and anxiety. This class is open to children ages 6 and up and their parent/caregivers. Everyone will learn a guided meditation, breath exercises, and yoga postures that children (and adults!) can use to relax under stressful situations. The class is open to all-levels. It will be super beginner friendly and will also encourage those who already have some zen practices in their toolkit.

When: August 5th, 2-3:30pm
Cost: $25 Per participant; if a parent or caregiver comes with 1 child, it will be $35 for both. To add an additional child or adult to the pair, it will be $25 per additionWhere: Arkansas Yoga Collective// 7801 Cantrell Rd Suite D Little Rock, AR 72227

Karla Shepard worked in state government for 30 years. After the sudden death of her youngest child, Karla built The Legend of Greater Things Retreat Center to help others and honor the light that her daughter shared. She helps others recognize the shadow work that needs to be integrated and transformed. Karla offers 1-on-1 mentorship guidance to those who struggle with grief and life stressors. She loves working with children, and often uses play therapy and a kind ear to help those who are extra sensitive find their way.  She also leads workshops and sound healing sessions, teaching others the tools that have helped her get past her darkest days, instilling a sense of hope for healing, and helping people find the courage to thrive.
