The Golden Years Feel Better with Yoga: An Experiential Workshop for Seniors
As the body and mind age, changes happen. Yoga can help to adjust to these changes in the spirit of non-judgment, compassion and humor. This workshop offers gentle physical yogic techniques with mindfulness, meditation and breath work to address the effects of aging. Practical and accessible, they help to maintain range of motion, increase flexibility and strength, and promote feelings of well-being. By using the alignment of the body as reference points, mindfulness and meditative movement develops. Breath work creates a sense of calm, clarity and center.
Guided by a senior, Ellen Kennedy started her yoga practice in 1978, eventually evolving to teaching in 1996. She has multiple certifications, advanced trainings from White Lotus Foundation (Vinyasa) in Ca., Discovery Yoga(Kripalu)and Mindful Motion Yoga (Power) in Fl. She is certified in Chair Yoga and Yoga for Cancer Pts. She worked with Seniors specifically at the Senior Center and Fitness Over Fifty in Corvallis,Oregon, teaching 10 classes a week for 6 years.
