A Wellness Consultation can provide you with a launching point for making positive change on your journey to the level of health you desire. It is particularly useful, if you are really ready to work on yourself, but don't know where to start, and need advice, guidance, a plan and positive support.

The Wellness Consultation involves an extensive review of your medical history, lifestyle, diet, stress relief mechanisms, and exercise habits, as well as your wellness goals, expectations, and level of commitment to achieving your goals. This allows us to create short term wellness goals, which are both manageable and achievable for you.

A Wellness Consultation can be performed either in person, or via the telephone.

Ayurvedic Consultations with Ivy Ingram, MA, Certified Ayurvedic health practitioner

Ayurveda is an ancient system of health guidance that developed in India thousands of years ago. Based in nature, its tools are foods, herbs, lifestyle changes and other activities like yoga and meditation designed to restore balance to the body and mind. In your consultation, Ivy will conduct a detailed assessment and will offer educational suggestions tailored to your unique constitution and current concerns.  In this way, troublesome signs of imbalance can be removed by addressing the root cause of the problem.

Your Consultation
When you start learning the basic principles of Ayurveda, questions immediately pop up about how it all relates to YOU – you, with your unique habits, preferences, body type, and personality quirks. This is where Ayurveda shines as a system for guiding our health decisions. There are no "one size fits all" recommendations; it's all about personalization, which is what makes it so brilliant, but it can also make it a bit confusing. Consultations are a chance to dive deep into your specific health concerns and the factors that have contributed to them. I will help you understand basic Ayurvedic principles as they relate to you, so you can see the rationale behind what is happening in your body and mind, as well as the steps to move towards balance.

What to Expect
Before our first appointment, you will fill out a health history and current lifestyle survey. During our first meeting, we will discuss your concerns and goals to determine if we are a good fit. I will ask detailed questions about your daily routines, diet, digestion, exercise, stress patterns, sleep, work life, and relationships. I may also use pulse, eye, face, fingernail and tongue assessment to get a fuller picture of your prakriti (your inborn mind-body constitution, defined by your primary dosha/s) and your vikriti (your current imbalanced state, defined by which dosha/s are elevated).

Many people find it helpful to meet on a regular basis; the ideal frequency depends on your situation. Some like to meet weekly during a difficult transition, while some drop in each month to stay on track. Others come in quarterly to help navigate seasonal changes.

In a mini consultation or dosha assessment - Ivy will determine your prakriti (primary dosha/s) through questions about your habits and preferences, as well as using pulse, eye, face, fingernail and tongue assessment. Knowing your prakriti can give insight into potential health problems and general guidelines to avoid them, but there will not be enough time to get into specific symptoms or diet and lifestyle recommendations.
