This class will give students the opportunity to access, nourish and massage the deep connective tissues of the body for a wonderful new kind of yoga experience.
Yin yoga is a quiet practice suitable for students of all levels of experience. Through the practice of long held postures targeting mainly the connective tissue of the low back, hips and hamstrings, Yin yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing your body. When we let the muscles relax, the work is done in the areas beyond the muscles and into the joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone, with special attention paid to areas that encompass a joint (hips, spine, sacrum). We hold poses with the muscles relaxed for several minutes. Also, by targeting the main meridians (energy channels) of the body, this type of deep tissue practice assists you in removing ama (toxins, blockages) and creating more mental and physical harmony. This is a more meditative practice with a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go. The Yin practice includes powerful mental and emotional benefits as you become quiet, still and mindful of the present moment. Other benefits of Yin yoga include: reduces stress, creates calm in the mind and body, builds stamina, lubricates and protects the joints, increases flexibility in the deep tissue, and improves your meditation experience. Give yourself this opportunity to surrender, slow down and come back to balance. Yin yoga is a perfect complement for vinyasa flow and other physically challenging “yang” practices.
Props are extremely useful for this type of practice so that you can access the deep tissue in the best way for your body. If you have props of your own, please feel free to bring them (blocks, blanket, bolster).

The Heart of the Sun: Ashtanga Yoga with Andrew Eppler
Andrew Eppler has been practicing and teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for over 30 Years. He is the owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Studio in Norman Oklahoma USA. Andrew has studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sri BNS Iyengar and many of the senior western teachers of Ashtanga Yoga including David Williams, Nancy Gilgoff, Danny Paradise, David Swenson and others. Beginning his daily yoga practice at the age of 14, yoga has been his lifelong passion. Andrew teaches with kindness and respect for each individual’s needs and the inherent wisdom we all have within our own bodies. While working within the traditional framework of Ashtanga Yoga, Andrew enjoys sharing ideas about yoga that are both traditional and contemporary. He has developed a unique blend of techniques for cultivating physical ability, concentration, healing, and joy in yoga practice. His teaching is a synthesis of ideas and techniques he has learned through years of traveling and teaching in many countries. Andrew is also a magician and uses magic and illusion in his workshops to illustrate some of the philosophical ideas of yoga. While staying grounded in the roots of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and at the same time drawing from many sources of inspiration and technique from all around the world, Andrew’s workshops encourage students to create their own healing, joyful, evolving, sacred, lifelong yoga practices.
Sunday 9am -11:30pm Ashtanga Led Primary Series
Andrew’s workshop will begin with an explanation of Surya Namaskar and Vinyasa. Surya Namaskar is at the core of the Ashtanga Vinyasa approach to practicing yoga postures. Vinyasa its self is nothing other than Surya Namaskar in between each posture. The sun has a huge significance in Indian philosophy. Sri Krishnamacharya, who is called the father of modern yoga by many people, came from a very strong tradition of sun worship and Bhakti Yoga. The energetic changes we all experience as we practice yoga are associated with the “rising of the sun within” in Indian Philosophy. We will discuss the physical practice of Surya Namaskar and how it can be practiced safely, and integrated into asana practices with the Vinyasa method. If Primary Series would be thought of as a song, Surya Namaskar is the scale and rhythm of that song. Vinyasa movements can be repeated countless times painlessly, without causing repetitive strain injuries, only if the techniques are learned properly. After discussing the fundamental aspects of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method of practice, Andrew will lead the class through the Primary Series showing the Vinyasa counts and methods for entering and exiting postures. Variations will be given to ensure that everyone can practice safely and more advanced techniques will be shown for students who are ready for them.
Ashtanga Therapy 12-2pm
Customize your practice within the Ashtanga Vinyasa System
Andrew will share a global fusion of techniques and ideas for understanding our bodies and working to create healing and balance while practicing the traditional sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. We will focus on the spine. This is an opportunity to bring your questions and address your injuries and challenging areas of your practice! Get some new tools for working with your body to create a healthy stable body and redirect unbalanced patterns of movement in your practice.
Pranayama and the History and Philosophy of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga 3:00-5:00pm)
Followed by Group Discussion
Andrew will teach the necessary Bandhas and then lead a pranayama and meditation practice. This class practice will give introduce students to pranayama and give the theory behind this powerful practice. This workshop is designed to help with building a personal pranayama and meditation practice. After pranayama, the group can relax and Andrew will talk about the history of Yoga from it's earliest known textual references to the current time. After making the film Mysore Yoga Traditions and continuing to study with Sanskrit scholars from Mysore who come from the lineage of Krishnamacharya, Andrew can share a new perspective on the history of the Ashtanga practice and the spiritual tradition that is has come from. There will be time for questions and answers at the end.

I discovered yoga in 1999 and have been practicing ever since. I found it as a way to ease my depression and anxiety, and as a much needed tool to break away from the mental gymnastics going on in my head. I have studied many forms of yoga and meditation throughout the years and I use methods from several traditions to customize practices for my clients. While my approach is simple, sessions are always dynamic, incorporating mindfulness, balance, strength, flexibility, humor, and a little rock and roll. There is always a deep focus on breath. My goal is to create space for my clients to get in touch with their spirt, light, and the love within them....because from this place, anything is possible.

"Kundalini Yoga is called the "Yoga of Awareness." In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul."
Starting in May, AYC will have a regularly scheduled Kundalini Yoga Class. This is an introductory workshop led by Kayce Johnson and Lakey Goff to provide you with more information about what kundalini yoga is, how it came to the US, what to expect in a kundalini yoga class, how this technology works, and review some of the methods kundalini uses to help you raise your awareness (such as pranayama techniques, mantras, and kriyas).
This is the perfect class for beginners and people who are new to kundalini yoga. Even if you are not familiar with kundalini yoga or have never taken a kundalini yoga class, you will feel comfortable with this introduction. Kundalini yoga is for everyone.

8:50pm - Closing of Satsang/Aarti
In this months Satsang, we will explore and discuss the True Face of Light. Enhancing ourselves like the Phoenix, rising from the dark ashes, learning and becoming more aware... Lets explore, discuss and provoke thought!
"Nikola Tesla, a visionary, and accomplished being of the modern era, said that he had family conversations with lightning and the colors of a sunset taught him invention. We know less about the historic Patanjali, but it is said that in his continuous pursuit of the light of knowledge he became a grammarian, an ayurvedic doctor, and a philosopher. Both of these people urge us to find perfection and capture our universal identity.
So also does Kapila, the founder of Samkhya Philosophy, in this excerpt from the Srimad Bhagavatam where he instructs his mother, Devahūti: “Egoism in the mode of passion produces two kinds of senses—the senses for acquiring knowledge and the senses of action The senses of action depend on the vital energy (prāna), and the senses for acquiring knowledge depend on intelligence (buddhi). By interactions of the air and the sensations of touching, one receives different forms according to destiny. By evolution of such forms, there is fire and the eye sees different forms in color. My dear mother, the characteristics of form are understood by dimension, quality and individuality. The form of fire is appreciated by its effulgence.”
The Sun is the original source of light that makes vision possible. The fire/light of the yogi is the tapas that burns away impurities, and the ash that remains is the vibhuti; the sacred ash. Siddhi is the power that rises out of the black ashes like a phoenix from the fire of tapas. Patanjali reminds us that it is dangerous to be self-satisfied and halt progress with the acquisition of siddhis—restings on our laurels."
Excerpt from April Focus of the Month - David Life
Mantra Chanting: Repetition of specific mantras in a call and response format!

The spiral path, as contained in the infinity symbol and the shape of the sphere, has since ancient times suggested a capacity for infinite return and rebirth. Our bodies are built using the shape of the sphere and the arc, the strongest architectural elements known to man. From the time of birth, our bodies develop not linearly, but through spiraling movement patterns that take us from rolling to crawling and eventually to walking. Our mental and spiritual bodies are cyclical and can be seen as moving along a spiral path through an ancient concept found in many cultures called the Medicine Wheel.
Join Sarah and Stela for an afternoon of discussion, movement and meditation that explore these primordial spiraling patterns in human development, which are fundamental to health and wellbeing. Drawing from both science and tradition, the workshop will move you through two parallel models of development: one that governs our bio-mechanical and cognitive development and another that informs our spiritual and emotional body. Together we will seek patterns that have become stuck, stale or painful and gently move ourselves towards transcendence and freedom from such.
Part 1: In the first half of the workshop, Stela will discuss the fundamental patterns necessary for healthy and complete human development as well as what happens when things go astray. Movement is at the center of all learning since the time of birth. Movement is therefore the key to accessing healing and self-fulfillment. The practice offered will place emphasis on movement and stillness that access the body’s original operating system, highlighting its spiraling nature, to reveal hiccups (compensation, trauma, unrecovered injury) and eventually bring the body into a single felt sensation. As these original patterns are re-introduced in a digestible way, the body has an opportunity to begin healing and experience itself anew.
Part 2: In the second half of the workshop, Sarah will explore the patterns through which we move as emotional, mental and spiritual beings. Sarah will introduce the ancient concept of the Medicine Wheel as a tool for transformation into new states of awareness and understanding. A metaphor of life and death, the Medicine Wheel has been used by many traditions as a framework for transformation and spiritual placement. Shamans and medicine people have connected archetypes to each of the four cardinal directions in order to assist with clarity and healing. Together we will build a traditional medicine wheel and you will be given tools to find your place on the wheel of life. Finally, a guided meditation around the wheel will be offered to further cultivate awareness of your patterns and the freedom to transcend them.
Have you felt the call to deepen your practice? Would you like to bring the gift of yoga to others through teaching? If so, come join us on Friday, February 2nd for a free class followed by lite finger foods and Q&A with Wesley and Kayce.

Journey to Wholeness: Exploring Dreams to Decode the Symbolic Language of the Unconscious
Within each of us exists an inner world with multiple energy systems that form our unconscious and combine to create the psyche. These systems influence our daily life through the choices we make, the relationships we form, and the beliefs we hold. To achieve a harmonious flow between unconscious and ego, we must first understand that these energy systems are distinct and independent parts of our personality. The unconscious mind is constantly trying to communicate with the conscious mind through two main pathways: dreams and imagination. For many, the dialogue between the two goes unnoticed as we stay distracted by our modern world of to-do lists and constant stimulation. The consequence is not only an isolation from the unconscious but an isolation from spirit.
This workshop will focus on examining dreams to bring the fragmented parts of the psyche together. Join us to begin the journey towards wholeness by learning the language of the unconscious using a method inspired by Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist, Carl G. Jung. Attendees will learn a practical, step-by-step approach to identify, understand, and acknowledge the message of dreams. Even those who have trouble remembering their dreams will learn tips and solutions for accessing dream images to discover a deep sense of unity and meaning.

Self-care is a commitment to honor the sacredness of being alive. The more you can cultivate a healthy relationship to honoring the divinity that presents itself as tiny miracles- the acts of connecting mind to breath, breath to body, and body to space- the closer you are to working within the flow and understanding the patterns of the universe.
This workshop will include a gentle Lunar Flow with pranayama techniques (breath exercises) to open and relax the body for meditation. You will then learn a tea meditation for releasing and forgiving followed by a meditation to cultivate a sense of gratitude, using an essential oil blend that you will infuse with your intention and then be able to take home. The hope of this workshop is that you begin to understand the foundations of developing self-care rituals and that you will then be able to personalize the rituals to fit your needs as you slow down to appreciate the beautiful rhythm of the universe that cradles us all.
Cost: $20 includes workshop, tea, and one bottle of anointing oil
*Please preregister so that we can make sure to have enough oil and tea for everyone

An Introduction into the Fundamentals
of Ashtanga Yoga with Steve Kirk
Ashtanga Yoga is accessible to everyone,
including the young and old, strong and weak,
flexible and non-flexible, and the injured.
In this workshop we will work on the fundamentals that make
up the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.
“Ashtanga Yoga” means eight limbed yoga. They are yama, niyama,
asana, pranayama, prathyahara, dharana, dhyana and Samadhi.
We will touch on all of the limbs but will focus on, the third limb,
asana (the practice of yoga postures) and through this
we will begin to understand the other limbs.
This workshop is guided toward the student new to yoga and to Ashtanga
or the more experienced yogi looking to expand their understanding of the practice.
The class will start with an in-depth discussion on the fundamentals,
we will take a 20 min break then asana practice.
Kali is in town all the way from Germany! Please help us welcome her back to her old teaching grounds for a Jivamukti Vinyasa Pop-Up Class. The class will take place before the August Satsang so feel free to stick around afterwards for a free event to celebrate community and explore different aspects of yoga not typically touched on in standard classes.
Vinyasa means to link, connect or place in a certain way to get very specific results. Using the breath to consciously link body, mind and spirit, this class incorporates a flowing sequence of poses, placed in a certain creative & conscious way, effectively resulting in samadhi, or peace, for the practitioner. Set to uplifting and soothing music, expect this class to both invigorate and deeply relax you, leaving you feeling better than when you arrived.
Kali Empl has been teaching yoga internationally to a wide variety of students from all walks of life since 2011. She holds yoga teaching certifications from Circle Yoga Shala and Jivamukti Yoga. Currently residing in Munich, Germany, she has been practicing yoga since 1988.

Bija Mantra, Discussion, Drums, and a Charging Meditation will open your inner doorwars for the love that is all around you!!!!
"Because we carry in our bodies our unresolved karmas, sometimes negative emotions can arise during our asana practice. Emotions such as fear, jealousy, anger, vengeance, cynicism, doubt and lack of faith are the results of karmas or actions we have done in our past that were not guided by love. These dark emotions are obstacles that cloud our vision and can stop us from feeling connected to our eternal true nature. We can addressthose troubling emotions through love and start to shift our perception away from disconnection and toward stability and joy..."
We will discuss LOVE's impact on all aspects of our selves and the world we live in. We will examine our perceptions and how they can activate our inner channel doorways called the chakras.
Mantra Chanting: Repetition of specific mantras in a call and response format!
Relaxing Meditation (Approx. 25 minutes): Meditation will focus on opening and activating the charkas while releasing the negative energies holding us back from realizing the amazing journey each of us is apart of.
Look forward to seeing you there!

An Immersive Sound Bath is very similar in nature to many of the traditional sound baths that you may be familiar with. However, instead of playing instruments such as glass bowls or gongs around the space, the sounds are created within a circle of 8 independent speakers utilizing the infinite possibilities of electronic sounds.
With this unique setup, the movement and frequency of the sounds can be controlled on a very precise level using the custom software that we have created to move sound in a circular pattern. The cyclical nature of the swirling sounds invokes a blissful and peaceful trancelike state unlike any other.
Additionally, because the sounds selected are neutral (not from nature or traditional instruments) it enables listeners to become easily immersed in thought and to effortlessly project there own imagery onto the soundscape.
The session itself begins by inviting the group to create a cozy place for themselves on the floor with pads, blankets, pillows and perhaps an eye cover. Then there is a brief introduction and greeting followed by 50 minutes of ambient electronic music with 8 speakers setup in a circle around the group. After the immersion comes to a gentle closing, the session ends with a few minutes of silence and they come back into awareness as slowly as is needed.
Yoga Nidra means "Yogic Sleep." It is a state of consciousness and gently focuses the mind while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. In Yoga Nidra, you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and go to deep sleep yet remain awake. While Yoga Nidra is a state that is very relaxing, it is also used by yogis to purify the Samskaras (the deep impressions that are the driving force behind karma). In this Pop-Up Class, you will be guided through a deeply meditative state while experiencing the many benefits Yoga Nidra provides.
